How to size boots for snowboards?

I like my regular shoes at a little bit of a larger size for a little extra room for comfort. I recently bought my snowboarding boot with this mentality and have had no problem with control or maneuverability with my boots. I know that the general consensus and opinion is that snowboarding boots should have a tight fit. Have any of the more advanced snowboarders here have had any success with a looser fitting boot or is it simply a bad idea not to get a tight fit? Thanks!!

I believe that generally snowboard boots should have a very snug fit. You don't want to go so small that you cut circulation in your feet, but the idea is that you don't want your feet sliding around at all in the boot (pretty much common sense)..
