What is the importance of boot flex?

I am aware the more flexible boots are better for park riding. But I am struggling to understand this as the boots are bound within the bindings so shouldn't any "flex" in the boots not really be noticeable (assuming the bindings are fastened securely)?

Boot flex is important because your motion is better transferred to the binding and correspondingly, to the board. This results in increased board control and a better "touch" which is ideal for park riding.
